Staying connected to others who love people and God

With these crazy covid times people are isolating like crazy survivalist with a gated compound. People walking around with mask on feels isolating by itself. If I’m wearing a mask and I ask a gal for her phone number she looks at me like a kidnapper with a white van. And runs off. And peels out in her car. But seriously though.

It’s important to stay connected to others. It makes me think the campfires we had in Boy Scouts. When we were done with the fire at night we had to put it out so it wouldn’t be a fire hazard.. So we would kick the coals apart to lower the intensity of the coals heat. Often that was all we had to do. If the fire was going to strong we would put some water on it too. But most of the time all that was needed was to separate the coals.

The same principle applies for those on a spiritual seeking quest. If you stay connected with those people who have an intense fire for God, you will stay on fire for God too most likely. But once you become separated from them you risk growing cold in your faith as well. Its worth trying this with an actual campfire. And then let it burn until it goes down to coals. Then separate the coals and watch them lose their intensity.

However, if we keep adding to the fire more wood the coals will keep going. We can also blow on the coals to make them more intense. And we can add fuel to the coals to keep them going intensely. In Matthew 24:12 Jesus said “Because of the increase in wickedness, the love of most will grow cold”

Its true too that some people can be like a wet blanket and try and smother or poor water on your fire or enthusiasm for seeking solutions to problems. Spiritual or otherwise.  They like to use the word can’t and it won’t work.  Etc.  Don’t hang around people like that. It’s better to be around people that support you and your vision.
